If A Guardianship Petition Is Filed, Who Has To Know About It?
The probate code prescribes certain individuals that are required to receive notice of a guardianship petition being filed. Typically, if it's an elderly person you are filing guardianship for, then all of the children have to be notified; as well as their spouse. If it's children that your filing a guardianship application for, then everyone over the age of twelve - as far as siblings - and then any of the parents; whether they are involved or not, are required to be notified. But there's a list in the probate code that lets you know who needs to receive notice and how that notice is to be sent.
